Phonics Play can show instructions in French. English phonics sounds, practice words, stories and answers stay in English, so families can understand what to do while practising English.
What changes when you choose Français?
Menus, directions and helpful explanations can appear in French. Example: “Listen carefully, then spell it yourself.” becomes “Écoute bien, puis écris le mot toi-même.”. The answer cat stays cat.
What stays in English?
Phonics sounds, practice words, stories and answers remain English. A French instruction does not change the sound being learned or turn the activity into French phonics.
How to switch
Open the app and use the Instruction language selector. Choose Français. You can switch back to English without resetting learning progress. The website language switch changes website pages separately.
About spoken directions
French spoken directions depend on a French voice being available on the device. If one is missing, use the written directions. English recorded letter sounds remain available independently of French speech.
A shared activity
Read the French direction together, play the English sound, then point to the English letter or word. Keep explanations short and replay the English example whenever needed.
